Flag Day & Flags

Each June, as part of the Flag Day celebration at the Mobile Public Library’s West Regional Branch, ‘Betsy Ross’ (member, Pam Whiteside) teaches children to cut out five-pointed stars. Ms. ‘Ross’ also hands out flag codes and collects worn flags to be destroyed along with those collected at the Richards DAR House at a retirement ceremony held each October by the American Legion.
The Chapter also donates flags to the new Habitat for Humanity homeowners. To date, as these homes are dedicated, we have given over 50 flags to these new homeowners to fly from their front porch.
Habitat for Humanity is faith-based organization that builds simple, affordable homes in partnership with people in need.
